THE REGION OF COMPORTA

The region of Comporta is located about one hour south of Lisbon in the Estuario del Sado Nature Reserve, where the Sado River meets the ocean. It's a popular destination for locals that has recently started attracting an international clientele because of its unspoiled charm and golden sandy beaches – so much so that it has recently been dubbed the Portuguese Hamptons. The house is located just five minutes on foot from Carvalhal Beach and 10 minutes from Pego Beach. It's also close to the town of Comporta with its gorgeous 60km long beach. A former fishing village, it still retains its laid-back vibe and windswept natural beauty. Other local attractions include the Serra de Grândola mountain, which is great for hiking and biking, the Moorish town of Santiago do Cacem, with its quaint cobblestone streets and fortifications, and the ancient Roman settlement of Miróbriga.
